How Do You Grow Red Meat Watermelon Raddish?

We know what you are thinking - no, this isn’t a radish made from meat and no this radish doesn’t look like a watermelon. You might mistake this for red beets as well but that isn’t it either. Unlike common radishes that appear reddish on the outside and white on the inside, this radish is the opposite! It’s white on the outside and watermelon-red on the inside.

Red Meat Watermelon radishes are an heirloom variety of Daikon radishes. It belongs to the mustard family and is a cool-season crop in warmer climates. This amazing vegetable should be strictly sown from the summer to autumn season and is ready for harvest later in autumn (for summer sowing) and winter (autumn sowing). The roots of this radish have tops are strong and with a delicate sweet flavor. You can grow your own Watermelon radish in containers and start transferring them to bigger containers once they reach about 3 - 4 inches in diameter!
